We first heard about Just Between Friends (JBF) about two years ago when Bobbi Burger (Bobbi's Bargains Blog) sent us an email enthusiastically telling us about the great deals she had found at a JBF event in California.

Just Between Friends consignment sales focus on outfitting your kids —infant through pre-teen, with great clothes at great prices. Since our kids are older than the target age for JBF, we didn't pay much attention to Bobbi's encouragement. But recently, we've heard from many of you who have attended, and continue to attend JBF events in your cities, and are spending very little to outfit your kids in great looking clothes.

Several people told us that they attend a JBF sale every six months (they only happen 2 or 3 times each year) and simply buy all the clothes their kids will need for the next six months. At the same time they are selling the clothes that their kids have outgrown. Sellers earn between 65 and 70 percent of the sale price back on the clothes they sell. By "churning" their kids clothes, their actual out of pocket costs are almost nothing.

History: Just Between Friends began in 1997 in a living room in Tulsa, Oklahoma when Shannon Wilburn and Daven Tackett were two young moms searching for ways to save on children’s items while recouping the investment on the things their children had outgrown (or perhaps never used) They had a small consignment sale in the Shannon’s home and grossed $2000 in sales that was split among the consignors.  It grew each time and after requests from others to start a similar event, Shannon and Daven started franchising in
2003.  Today it is a multi-million dollar company with gross sales expected to top 20 million dollars in 2011.
