Easter Decor #1 – Egg Centerpiece
This easy Easter centerpiece can be made from items you already have around the house. We started with a large glass brandy snifter, but any large glass bowl or jar would do. We’ve seen some people use a one-gallon pickle jar for this craft, and trim it with a pastel colored, satin ribbon wrapped around the top threaded part of the jar, and tied into a pretty bow.
Fill the bottom with Easter grass or similar packing material like Excelsior or Kraft crinkle cut paper with appropriate Easter colors.
Place several plastic Easter eggs on top of the grass and you’re ready to set a beautiful table.
We picked-up our Excelsior on clearance at Michaels Arts & Crafts. We found the pastel colored Easter eggs at a garage sale.
Easter Decor #2 – Front Door Brooms
We wanted to make up a matching set of Easter / Spring Décor for our front door. Annette came up with this matching set of brooms that only took a few minutes to create. This easy Easter Broom includes:
- Brooms: Two 36-inch decorative brooms,
- Silk Flowers: one flower pick spray with 5 – 7 stems of flowers inserted into 3-foot grape vine broom. Annette purchased the silk flowers at Michael’s Arts and Crafts after Easter last year, JoAnne’s and Hobby Lobby will have these as well.
- Ribbon: We used two 10 yard rolls of wire-edged ribbon (one yellow with dots and the other purple) to make the bows for both brooms. The weeks leading up to Easter, this ribbon should be on sale for 40-50% off.
There was a little bit of ribbon left over which Annette used to tie around vases in our living room. We hung these matching Easter brooms on our double front door. You’ll also need a hot glue gun and a wire cutting pliers.This holiday decoration makes a beautiful Easter / Spring piece. The cost for this project is less than $10.

Easter Decor #3 – Springtime Decorated Tree
Many of you know that Annette simply loves Christmas . . . it’s the high point of her year. Well, a few years ago she saw a friend’s home decorated with several themed Christmas trees – one tree in a particular was a white tree decorated in blue and white Greek themed ornaments. Thinking of other tree themes, she concluded that a 4′ white tree could be decorated for a variety of holidays throughout the year. Being frugal, and a clever planner she decided that the ornaments for each seasonal tree could be picked up for pennies after each holiday. As a result, she created this Springtime Easter Tree for our Family Room – it’s so much fun!
Supplies for this craft project
Here’s what she used to decorate the tree:
- 36 – Mini Glitter Eggs
- 22 – Medium Sized Colored Eggs
- 15 – Blue & Purple Medium Plastic Eggs
- 14 – Mini Blue & Purple Plastic Eggs
Total cost for ornaments (minus the cost of the tree) was about $10.

Easter decor #4 – Life Size Wooden Cross
Years ago Steve inventoried his scrap wood in the garage and decided to make an Easter project. He took a couple of two by four pieces of wood and built this resurrection day (Easter) memorial cross for our entry courtyard.
The tallest piece is 6 feet long, the crossbar is 3 feet long and the foot piece on the upright is about 6 inches long. He used 4 nails in the cross piece and two in the foot piece and used black tempera paint for the wording. We clipped some olive branches and wove them into a wreath for a “Crown of Thorns.” Over the years the wood has aged to have a more rustic look.
Easter Decor # 5 – String Balls
Several years ago, we created beautiful colored string balls and hung them on our Easter tree . . . really just an indoor ficus tree that we decorated with lights and the balls.
We created the balls by dipping colored string in watered-down white craft glue (such as Elmer’s). The string is wrapped numerous times around a small balloon. We use small balloons purchased at The Dollar Store. When the string dries, the balloon is popped and the broken balloon pieces are removed. Because the glue on the string is dried the ball retains its shape. It’s a fun craft project for kids and they make great decorations.
Easter Decor #6 – Egg Filled Lantern
This easy and Easter/Spring Lantern Decor decoration is a great addition to our home’s Easter festivities. It only took Annette about 5 minutes to put together. If colored plastic eggs aren’t the look you want – you could use any number of color combinations depending on the look you want to create. Annette wanted a colorful, festive, kid-friendly look for our upcoming Easter celebration with our grandkids. If you want a classier look, try gold spray painted eggs, pastel ribbons, Easter grass, or other components to get the look you want.
Components include:
- 50 – plastic Easter eggs
- 6-foot string of white lights
- Brass lantern
Easter Decor #7 – Candle Centerpiece
The centerpiece on our dining room table is made up of pastel-colored pillar candles, colorful plastic eggs and lots of pastel colored curling ribbon all arranged on a white wooden tray.
