NBC today show

videoWe appeared on the Today Show the three days in a row: Sept 29, Sept 30 and October 1 (in conjunction with the launch of our new book). You can watch the videos below and find some great deals at the bottom of the p

  • Day 1: We shared how we use planning, smart shopping and bulk cooking to keep our grocery bill at less than half of the national average.
  • Day 2: On the second day we talked to the mom of a family who wanted to cut her grocery bill in half. We told her what she was doing right and what she could improve on. Watch the video and see if you agree with what we told her. We also were teased by Matt Lauer about taking food from the green room . . . it was funny!
  • Day 3: We answered several questions from moms around the country and producer Josh Weiner zinged us again by throwing up a photo of Abbey dressed up like a cow for Chick-fil-A's Dress Like a Cow Day. She got a free meal.

today, show, josh, weinerWe shot the background video the week of August 16 with producer / cameraman / video editor Josh Weiner. He was a real trooper and kept up with us as we showed him how we did bulk cooking, planned our grocery shopping, took inventory of our freezer, bought bulk items from a mini warehouse and purchased over 25 paper bags full of groceries from a grocery store (average price of $7.50 per bag).

Day 1—September 29, 2010

Day 2—September 30, 2010

After the ribbing we got from Matt Lauer on Day 2, we got back at Josh by actually hiding all of the food in the Green Room on Friday morning. He came down to the to brief us on the upcoming segment. He was hungry and only found on small cracker in the middle of the table where the trays of food were suppose to be. He said, "Come on, you guys are kidding, right?" Zing!

Josh, You've got to be kidding . . . right?Steve had the camera positioned in his lap to catch Josh's expression when he discovered that there was no food left for him.
